2. LOST SUNGLASSES
 Sherman Su   (General Comments)

I lost a pair of sunglasses last night (Thursday) in the Gatineaus, on trail #1, probably close to Keogan. Yellow frame with clear (interchangeable) lens. I'm hoping an early morning skier saw them and reads these posts. By the way, the conditions are better than good. Couldn't believe how empty the trails are.

3. SHIMANO R131 ROAD BIKE SHOES (CARBON) FOR SALE

These are in impeccable condition (9/10) and I'm asking $100 firm.
Size is 45EUR, which is 10.5US (men). Look compatible.

Offset velcro straps with rachet system, gloss carbon soles. Inserts have never been used. The new model R132, which is only a change in colour are selling now in Ottawa for $229 plus taxes! This is a great deal.

4. ILLEGAL TO RUN ON THE ROADS?
 James Sauve   (General Comments)
skip to next       Back to top

Paul Datar's post, being filled with UPPERCASE words and multiple questions marks (???) and overflowing with sarcasm, (not complaining, he made his point clear, but it) made it difficult, for me anyway, to be sure his statement about running on the roads being illegal was serious or not.

If it is true as his post implies, that running on roads is illegal, well that is certainly news to me. My understanding is that pedestrians (running or not) always have the right of way. Except of course on double lane highways where it signage clearly indicates that no walking (and presumably running) is allowed.

Please enlighten me, with references (online preferred) rather than anecdotes.

Thanks much.

ETA: Thanks Simon Ferguson. Does that mean, if there a sidewalk, it has to be used (even if it isn't well maintained, lousy footing, flooded, unploughed or uneven and an injury risk)?

8. NYC MARATHON ACCOMMODATIONS
 Geoff Williams   (General Comments)

Seems that I've gotten into the NYC marathon this coming November. Only one thing that scares me more than marathons or doing Ironman and that's finding reasonable accommodations close to the race.

If you have some good tips for accommodations or a great place to stay close to transportation to get to and from the race start I'd really appreciate hearing from you.

Oh and the only time I was in New York we were flying a Canadian Sea King helicopter around the Statue of Liberty pre 9/11 so I am saying I am completely unfamiliar with the big apple.

Thanks, Geoff

" Running is a lifetime pursuit. If you set goals and have passion and believe in yourself, anything is possible."

--Joan Benoit Samualson, '84 Olympic marathon gold medalist and U.S. record holder for woman ages 50-54

I keep saying: If I can do it, you can do it also. You gotta have self-confidence and set your mind to simply get out there and do it without excuses. For those who are thinking of participating in any race this summer, it's time to think about this.

10. SMILING MUSCLES SORE FROM SKIING??
 Yves Fortin   (General Comments)
skip to next       Back to top

If you wonder if there is still enough snow for skiing in the Park, the answer is un unequivocal, YES. Beautiful snow indeed! I am certainly not the best skier but I have been skiing years and, from my perspective, this weekend was the cherry on the cake! Saturday and Sunday morning, the conditions were perfect. I skied with Dave's and Lise's group, not only on the paths and parkways, but more interestingly on the crust over fields and ponds, zooming like an drunk electron. I have had the chance of doing this in the past but this weekend the conditions were truly priceless!

If for some reason you haven't had much of a chance to ski this winter, it is still time to go out and have a blast. Snow conditions are very best in the morning (and the parking lots fill up quickly). So just postpone your bike ride to the afternoon!

If you are not yet a skier, this is a great time to start and get gear ready for next year. There are great bargains to be had at all the local the stores, or on TriRudy's classified...

Skiing in Gatineau Park is such a gift!

11. DARTFISH TECHNOLOGY NOT ONLY AT THE OLYMPICS
Mary Paterson, B.Sc. P.T.   (General Comments)
skip to next       Back to top

Dartfish technology is not only at the Olympics

I'm sure that most everyone has now heard of Dartfish after seeing the stunning and exciting Simulcast motion capture videos at the Vancouver Olympics ( Bobsled and Downhill skiing ) You may also remember the impressive StoMotion videos of the Divers and Gymnasts at the Beijing Olympics. Dartfish is used in sports broadcasting, training, coaching and sports medicine in endless numbers of different sports.

Bike2Body is now in it's second season using Dartfish video software to
perfect the bike fit. This state of the art technology allows you to capture the dynamic motion of cycling and accurately measure angles, analyze pedal stroke and posture on the bike.

The cycling season is just about to begin so now is the perfect time to get your bike set up properly and avoid a long waiting list.
If you are not comfortable on your bike, not getting the power to the pedal that you would like, or just want to get the perfect bike fit, then a professional bike fit is a what you need. A proper bike fit will optimize comfort, efficiency and power on your bike.
A professional bike fit at Bike2Body is a Physiotherapy service, so if you have extended health care insurance it would be covered.

Cheers
